NU'EST (Disbanded March 14, 2022)
After a long (and rocky) ten-year run, NU'EST officially announced its disbandment. Though they didn't officially use the word "disbandment," their contract with PLEDIS officially ended on this day.

For idols, '7 Year Curse' means a 'crisis' they face in the 7th year of their debut. This is because they are at a crossroads in choosing when the exclusive contract will expire and whether the group will continue or not.
How long is Twice contract for?
The standard length of exclusive agreements between agencies and artistes is seven years, which means that many K-pop groups which debuted in 2015 have to renew their contracts with their agencies in 2022.
Just last year they had two albums debut #6 and 3 on the bb 200, their Spotify streams grew immensely and they finally passed 10 million monthly listeners, highest for a Kpop act outside of BTS, BP, and their members.

BLACKPINK's contract is set to expire in 2023, and while everyone hopes they will choose to renew it and continue as a four-member group, some BLINKs are rumored to believe they will disband.
The disbandment may be because of various factors - starting a family, going solo, hard work not equal to the result, and more. Multiple artists, before BTS, have been active for more than 14 years, and many will continue to do so after it.
Mostly, the contract of the K-pop band groups ends around 7 years. The same is seen in the case of Itzy, the Kpop group managed by JYP Entertainment and debuted in 2019 is expected to have Itzy contract end date in 2026 which is around7 years.
